The Vero Beach Miss Hibiscus Pageant is a very special part
of the 2010 Hibiscus Festival held on Friday April 16 at 7 p.m. at the
Heritage Center in historic downtown Vero Beach.
The 2010 Miss Hibiscus Queen will preside over the Hibiscus Festival
activities on Saturday April 17, 2010 and will represent historic downtown
Vero Beach throughout the coming year.
Single girls, who are Indian River County residents and between the ages of
16 and 21 years old, are invited to compete for the coveted title of 2010
Miss Hibiscus. Contestants will be judged on stage presence, poise,
community service, personality and a personal interview. There will be no
swimsuit or talent competition.
Attire for the Pageant is dressy evening or cocktail attire, long or short
dresses may be worn. The first 20 young ladies to register with a sponsor
will have the opportunity to wear a dress at no cost from the Juniors
Department at Dillard's. If the contestant decides to purchase the dress
following the pageant, they will be entitled to a 20 percent discount.
Deadline for registrations is March 26. A contestant meeting and mixer will
be held at the Heritage Center at 5 p.m. on April 8 at the Heritage Center
and mandatory personal interviews will be conducted on April 15 at 5 p.m. at
the Heritage Center.
The winner of the Miss Hibiscus Pageant will win a grand prize of $1,000
cash and an array of gift certificates from local businesses. Second place
winner will earn $500 cash plus prizes and third place will win $300 cash
plus prizes. Again this year will be a "Miss Congeniality" and "Miss
Photogenic" prize categories. The tiara for Miss Hibiscus is courtesy of
John Michael Matthews Fine Jewelry and flower bouquets from a local florist.
Each contestant must submit a $100 sponsorship with their application as
well as a photograph. Contestants under 18 must have a consent form signed
by a parent or guardian.The application will explain all criteria of the
contest and must be received by March 26.
Applications are alternately available Tuesday through
Friday between 10 am and 4 pm at the Heritage Center and Indian River Citrus
Museum located at 2140 14th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
